Klinker Brick is run by Steve and Lori Felten, fifth generation grape growers in California’s famous Lodi region. They continue the tradition of cultivating “Old Vine” Zinfandel vineyards that their ancestors planted in the early 1900’s.
The ‘Old Ghost’ name represents the pinnacle of Zinfandel that Klinker Brick produces each year. The name was derived from the Tule Fog which rises from the ground during the winter in Lodi. It both keeps the vineyards moist and cool and bestows a ghostly appearance in the vineyard. These 100 year old ancient vines produce tiny yields (less than one ton per acre) giving the wine spectacular concentrated dark fruit taste.
On the nose expect tons of spice, chocolate and botanicals, followed through in the taste with full-bodied flavors of juicy pomegranate and ripe cherry layered with dried herbs. True to the distinctive Klinker Brick style, this wine is super concentrated, with notes dark berries and tobacco. Layer after layer of complexity lead to a backbone of moderate tannins before a long, richly textured finish.
Probably the most intense wine in our shop!
