Lagar Da Xestosa Godello Monterrei

Producer Pazo do Mar uses the tagline ‘Vinos con corazón’ (wines with heart) – that is certainly true of this super expression of the varietal character of Godello.

The Monterrei Valley is a warm, dry area within the mountainous region of Galicia, near to the Portugese border. Its vineyards are predominantly black slate (‘pizarra’), giving the wine a characteristic elegant minerality.

(A point of clarification – the Godello grape is also known as ‘Verdelho’ in mainland Portugal. It should not be confused with Verdejo, grown in largely in Rudea!)
